Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The course was designed with non-music-majors in mind from the start. Many of MONE VOCAL ACADEMY’s in-person students didn’t study music, and plenty of them started it as a hobby while working a full-time job. PART 1 covers gear and Cubase basics from the ground up, and if you get stuck, you can ask questions through 1:1 feedback. It’s built so you never end up thinking "Wait, what is this?" and giving up.
That’s exactly why we made PART 1. Across 7 lessons, it takes you from setting up your gear to your first recording. We walk you through installing Cubase, connecting your mic, and creating tracks, one step at a time from the very beginning. If you get stuck, you can get 1:1 feedback once a day, so you’ll never be left wondering "How do I do this?" with nowhere to turn.
Minimal gear is plenty to start with. For what to buy, check out Lesson 2. You don’t need pricey gear or plugins right out of the gate.
Yes, that’s really how we run it. Send your audio and screenshots through the website, and we’ll reply. Our goal is to get you unstuck right away, so we answer 1:1—even questions that go beyond the lesson content.
If you don’t want the character you’ve built as a vocalist to disappear in the recording, you need mixing. This course shows you how to preserve the character you’ve developed through vocal technique at the recording and mixing stages. Among MONE VOCAL ACADEMY’s in-person students who are already taking vocal lessons, mixing is the most popular course.
Absolutely. When you outsource, instead of vague requests like "I want the chorus to really pop" , you’ll be able to make precise requests like "The chorus is lacking around 8000hz on the EQ, so please make the reverb decay time 3 seconds longer" . When you know how to do it yourself, the approval process gets shorter and your vision comes through exactly as you intended.
This course adapts the first-stage curriculum of MONE VOCAL ACADEMY’s in-person studio for online learning. The online version has its own advantages: you can rewatch lessons anytime, and it teaches you how to record yourself. The feedback system is the same for both—1:1, up to once a day.
With feedback along the way, 150 days is more than enough time. You can finish all 27 lessons and work on a song from start to finish with time to spare. Each lesson can be rewatched an unlimited number of times during your access period. Rewatch anything that doesn’t click, and if you get stuck, ask us directly through feedback.
